Everett Claunch
July 25, 1927 - May 24, 2015

He was born in Aberdeen, ID, July 25, 1927 to Everett and Ellen Claunch, the eigth child of nine.
Except for service in the Navy during World War II, he lived his entire life in the Sterling-Springfield area. Farming and ranching was his life for many years, until he sold most of his land, keeping his original "40" to raise cattle. He retired to Springfield, and moved to Blackfoot in 2013.
As a young man he loved playing left field in softball, learning to fly, and going to dances. He enjoyed the Idaho State Fair, taking tickets and running a booth for Lakeview Ward.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day saints and served in many positions, including; two bishoprics, High Council, Stake Mission, and a Mission in 1994-95 to Florida. He also served in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple with his wife for many years. His favorite service was with the Webelo Scouts.
His family was his passion in life, and he enjoyed trips to Hawaii, Disneyland, Disney World, Canada, Washington D.C. Area, New York, and New England.
He was a very friendly man, cordial and kind, known as "Super Dad" by his children. The death of his oldest child, Carolyn in 1975 was the saddest day of his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ellen and Everett Claunch; his daughter, Carolyn; brothers, Cecil, Walker, and Wayne; sisters, Ella Mae, Laura, Bertha and Marie.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Joyce May Claunch of Blackfoot, ID; sister, Wanda (Merlin) Andrews of Trenton UT; brother-in-law, Keith Kemp of Murray, UT; son, Bruce (Lori) Claunch of Rexburg, ID; daughters, LeeAnn (Dennis) Hulet of Taylorsville, UT, Janet (Larry) Anderson of Twin Falls, ID, Sharon (Gerry) Hunter of Anderson, CA and Donna Brimhall of West Valley City, UT; 15 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren, and was excited that twins are expected in September.
The family would like to express appreciation to Pat and Marta of Blackfoot Home Health & Hospice.
The viewing will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 28, 2015 at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 South Shilling Avenue in Blackfoot. Joyce my deepest sympathy goes out to you and your whole family. It has been many many years ago as a young girl playing with Carolyn at your home, but I never forgot how kind bud was to me. time passed, I recall running in to him years later and he still remembered me it was so good visiting with him. I feel fortunate that I knew him, and as he embarks on his journey I know there is such a sweet reunion between him and Carolyn going on.
My prayers are with you all.

Bud and Joyce were an important part of my growing up years. The Claunch's were my second family. I have so many happy memories of playing at their home. Bud was a good man and the best neighbor and friend to my dad. He will be greatly missed! I can't imagine how happy he must be to embrace Carolyn again. May God Bless and support you all at this time.

Our family loves Bud! He was always so friendly and very interested in what was happening in our lives. I always remember him bringing watermelon every year to the Christensen family reunion. My mother loved Bud and always considered him much more that just a cousin, but a cherished friend. Your family are in our thoughts and prayers.
