Robert Wedewer Obituary
AGE: 84 • Freehold Twp.
Robert John Wedewer, 84, of Freehold Township died Sunday, May 26, 2013 at home. He was born in Dyersville, Iowa and had resided in Howell Township before moving to Freehold Township. He served in the U.S. Merchant Marine Service and later in the U.S. Army. Mr. Wedewer was a house painter for 30 years before his retirement. He was employed by Harold McNamara Painting and Gus Frank Painting before becoming self-employed. He owned several standardbred horses and photographs of his horses in the winner's circle were prominently hung on his living room walls.
Surviving are three sons, Thomas Wedewer of San Francisco, California, Mark Wedewer and wife Melanie of Howell Township, and Robert Wedewer and wife Julie of West St. Paul, Minnesota; a brother, Donald Wedewer of Charleston, S.C.; his grandchildren, Justin and wife Jennifer, Nicholas, Ben, Lucy and Kate Wedewer; and a great granddaughter, Edison Wedewer.
Visiting will be held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Thursday from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Friday at 1:00 p.m. followed by interment at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown.

My sincere condolences to the Wedewer family. I've known Bob since the seventies. He was a good friend to my family. When I was a teen, he would sit on my porch telling stories, tapping his pipe against his teeth, because it made me giggle, and teaching me about life. As an adult, while working at Shoprite for 35 years, Bob was a frequent visitor, who never passed by without saying "How are you, young lady?", always making sure all was good with me. He was such a friendly and caring man. I will miss our little visits. My thoughts and prayers go to his family, all of whom he was very proud of. RIP Bob.
