Robert James Morgan Anchorage, AK Robert James Morgan, 88, of Anchorage, Alaska and formerly of Battle Creek passed away on March 26, 2012 at Gloria's Golden Heart Assisted Living Home. Robert was born January 29, 1924 in Battle Creek, Michigan. He graduated from Lakeview High School in Battle Creek, Michigan in 1942. Robert moved to Anchorage, Alaska in 1959. He served in the United States Air Force (MSGT Retired) at Kincheloe Air Force Base in Michigan and Elmendorf Air Force Base in Alaska. After serving during WWII, Korea and Vietnam, Robert retired on September 1, 1968 after 25 years, 6 months, and 8 days of service (20 years, 9 months, 11 days active) with an honorable discharge from the 21st SUP SQN, AAC (Fuel SUPVR). Robert was also employed at Penn Mutual, Union Oil, Tesoro Alaskan, and was self-employed (Blug & Gold Distributing, MBM Enterprises). Robert was a member of the Air Force Sergeants Association. He enjoyed bowling and pinochle. Robert is survived by his sons, Gerald W. Morgan, David L. Morgan with wife Danni, and Bruce E. Morgan with wife Suzanne; daughter, Wendy K. Newell with husband Jack; daughter-in-law, Christine D. Morgan; grandchildren, Bridgette C. Schroeder (Morgan) with husband Justin in Oregon, Corey M. Morgan, Bryan S. Lawrence, Gregory A. Lawrence with wife Stacey, Nicholas A. Phillips with wife Amanda, and Jack M. Newell of Anchorage, Jennifer L. Frymark (Phillips) with husband Patrick of Fairbanks, Alaska, and Audrey Morgan and Heidi Morgan of Salt Lake City, Utah; and great-grandchildren, Kylan Schroeder and Karmyn K. Phillips. Robert is preceded in death by his father, Robert S. Morgan, and mother, Hanna Barnes; sister, May Josephine Morgan; brother, Harold Morgan; wife, Maxine Morgan; children, Sheryl A. Morgan-Lawrence and Steven A. Morgan; and grandchild, Christopher Morgan. Funeral services will be held at the Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 7, 2012.
