RALPH DOUGLAS MASSEY

Ralph Douglas Massey, 89, of Nederland, Texas passed away September 16, 2009 at the Senior Nursing & Rehab Center of Port Arthur. He was born June 28, 1920 in Port Arthur, Texas to the late Robert Hicks and Amanda Pleasant Williams Massey. He was a teacher/coach for BISD in Beaumont for over 30 years and a member of First Baptist Church of Nederland. Ralph was a lifetime member and past Post Commander of American Legion Post #493, member of the VFW Post #6384, and a member of the Nederland Masonic Lodge. He was the devoted brother of Billy Jack Spud Massey of Beauxart Gardens, and two sister-in-laws, Vernice Massey of Nederland and Okgie Massey of Port Neches; and uncle to numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; 4 brothers, Robert, Jim, Clyde and Earl Massey; and 2 sisters, Ruby Haff and Louise Simms. A gathering of family and friends will be held Friday, September 18th from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home in Nederland. Funeral Services will be Saturday, September 19th at 11:00 a.m. at Heritage Funeral Home, Rev. Dr. David Higgs officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches.
