Allan Johnson

Allan Philip Johnson, 68, of Caseyville, Ill., born July 16, 1942, at Scott Air Force Base, Ill., died on Saturday, May 7, 2011, at his residence.

Allan worked as a switchman for 42 years at Southwestern Bell Telephone in St. Louis, Mo., and in Houston, Texas. He was a graduate of Cathedral High School Class of 1960; he received his Bachelor's Degree in Business from Southern Illinois University. Allan was an honorary president of the DVD Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Retired USAF Lt. Col. John W. R. Johnson and his wife, Marcella "Sally," nee Krupp, Johnson; a niece, Wendy Johnson; and two nephews, John Allen Reeves and Bill Reeves.

Surviving are his wife, Sylvia D., nee Ginter, Johnson; his former wife, Marlene Wilson of Houston, Texas; two sons, Dr. Greg (Kim) Johnson of Houston, Texas and Paul (Christi Ginter of Belleville, Ill.) Ginter of Collinsville, Ill.; a daughter, Sylvia (Tim) Peterson of Edwardsville, Ill.; seven grandchildren, Zoe Johnson, Alexandra "Alex" Johnson, Caitlin E. Ginter, Rebecca L. Ginter, Amy A. Ginter, Douglas Peterson and Drew Peterson; a sister, Marinell (Allen) Reeves of Dillsburg, Pa.; two brothers, Jim (Connie) Johnson of Layton, Utah and Tom (Debbie) Johnson of Green Bay, Wis.; his nieces and nephews, Mimi (Dr. Paul) Bednarek, Jenny (Jay Priebe) Johnson, Christina "Chris" Johnson and John Walter Royal Johnson VI; and special friends, especially the Andria family of Caseyville, Ill.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.kasslyfuneral.com.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, May 13, 2011, at Kassly Mortuary, Fairview Heights, Ill.

Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 14, 2011, at Kassly Mortuary Chapel, Fairview Heights, Ill., with Father Clyde Grogan officiating. Interment will be in Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, Ill.
