George Chamberlain Obituary

George Edward Chamberlain III of Bellingham passed away after a brief illness on Friday the 29th of April 2011, at the age of 57. He was born on November 3rd, 1953 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to George Edward Chamberlain II and Pauline (Muthard) Chamberlain. George worked at Intalco for 23 years where he was involved in union leadership and coordinating United Way efforts in Whatcom County. George started working at St. Joseph Hospital in 2003 in the CT department as a transporter where he touched many lives with his smiling face and singing a tune to put his patients at ease. George had a passion for music, and being at Woodstock as a teenager was one of his fondest memories. In the late 80's, George was a member of the local rock band "Night Moves," where he played the guitar and sang classic rock. George enjoyed gardening and spending time with his granddaughters and family. He was also very involved in the AA group "Dry Dock," where he chaired meetings and touched lives with sobriety. His wife Beth Ann Salisbury precedes George in death. He is survived by his son Mark (Amy) Chamberlain, daughter Laura Salisbury, granddaughters Eve, Ella and Mya Chamberlain, sisters Louise O'Flaherty, Mary Crug, and Leah Angel, many cousins, nieces, and nephews in Whatcom County and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Please bring your memories to share as we celebrate George's life at 7:00 PM on Friday the 6th of May 2011 at the Squalicum Boat House, 2600 Harbor Loop. A special thank you to St. Joseph Hospital and staff. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Whatcom Hospice Foundation.

My condolences to Mark and the rest of the Chamberlain family. My fondest memories of George were back in the 80's when as a teenager and close friend to his youngest sister, Leah, I had been a part of only a handful of the many Chamberlain family get-togethers where George would bring out his guitar and sing, ending with the entire family singing along. Such joy. You will be missed.

Peace and Love.

George, I miss you serenading to our department and to our patients (even though the songs would be stuck in my head the rest of the workday!). I miss your smile, your gentleness, and the respect and empathy you showed our patients. You always made our day in CT a little brighter, and quite a bit more funny.

I miss you,
Linda, CT technologist (and one of George's Friends) at St Joe's

George was a great friend. He cared deeply for people and was always kind. He will be greatly missed by all of us at the hospital and beyond. I visited him a week before he died. I am thankful that my last words to him were "I love you." We hugged. He said, " I love you too" and I left expecting to talk more on Monday. That was not to be. We will miss you dear friend.
