Age: 31 • Essex Junction
Micah Scott Matton, 31 passed away unexpectedly at his home in Essex Junction. Micah was born on October 8th, 1983 to Carrie (Davis) Barkyoumb and Rodney Matton.
As a young boy Micah could be found playing in the hay mow, terrorizing his sister and cousins. Micah was a very active child so in order to focus some of that energy his papa got him involved in re-constructing an outhouse which once complete he used, unbeknownst to his mom, on a very regular basis. Micah was kind hearted, sensitive, humble, caring, thoughtful, funny, stern, quiet, and more than all else FRUGAL!! He loved basketball, skiing, rollerblading, music, laughing, and videotaping himself dancing. Oh how he loved to dance! Micah loved taking videos of himself and posting them on instagram ...Memory: jamming to "Fancy" with Julian, Keeley, and Riley singing really loud… he really could NOT sing! Micah worked diligently to achieve his dreams of becoming a master electrician and providing a better life for his family.
Son, brother, husband, father, nephew, uncle, cousin and close friend he is survived by his mother, Carrie (Eric) Barkyoumb of Jericho; his father, Rodney Matton of Barre; his former wife Amie Fitzgerald and the loves of his life, his children: Austin, Riley, Julian and Scarlette. He leaves his siblings; Rachel (Nate) Williams and their children Taviah, Keeley and Manny; Peter Barkyoumb, Naomi Barkyoumb, and Logan Matton, as well as his paternal grandparents Ray and Elaine Matton, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He also leaves a special friend Tiffany Gladue and her son Derek. Micah was predeceased by his maternal grandparents Clayton and Shirley Davis and his cousin Elijah Davis.
Calling hours will be Tuesday, October 13th from 5-7pm at the Corbin & Palmer Funeral Chapel, 9 Pleasant Street in Essex Junction. A celebration of Micah's life will be held on Wednesday, October 14th at 1pm at the Essex Alliance Church on Old Stage Road in Essex, VT.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Julian & Scarlette Matton Memorial Fund at the Merchant's Bank, 205 VT15, Jericho, VT 05465. This fund is being established for the children's future education.

Last time I saw him was when he stopped at my work an dropped off a picture of him an i standing in the kitchen at your old house in Westford. He had on my clothes, I had on his! :) on the back he wrote " remember this, God how I miss those days!" I will always have a place in my heart for him.

Micah was my middle school crush we went to the 8th grade dance together and walked together for graduation he was a great friend. He will be missed by many. Such short lives have become nowadays. I know micah will be watching down on his family.
