Maya Julian

On February 18, 1953 Maya Lolita Julian was born to William and Inez Julian in Chicago, Illinois. She was the last of the eight children born between them. She attended Doolittle Elementary School, and graduated from James M. Harlan High in 1971. Following High School, she attended Pevit Point to pursue a career in Cosmetology. She excelled in her studies, specializing in hair. As a young girl, her mother encouraged her and her sister, Beatrice (Cookie) to sing. They formed a singing group, The Bronzettes. They recorded 3 records, Moments, I'm Begging, and Temptation is so hard to fight. The Bronzettes were on Soul Train in 1970, before Soul Train moved to California. Maya loved singing, acting, dancing, occasionally watching good movies and traveling. In 1977 Maya worked for the City of Chicago as a Judge Administrator. Maya fell in love and had her son Troy in 1982. Troy's fathers name was Ali. In 1998 Maya moved to Minneapolis, and worked for Hennepin County in Administration. In November 26, 2017, she had a Cycle Cell crisis. She was admitted in Methodist Hospital. Her vital signs declined each day. She died November 30, 2017. She was preceded in death by her Parents, (sisters) Gloria Williams, Gail Mitchell, Aloma Fowlkes (niece) Toya Watts, (nephews) Julian Mitchell, Angelo Julian, (cousins) Howard Sorwell, Gwen Julian and Kenneth Ashley. 4 Aunts and 2 uncles. Maya leaves behind her son, Troy Julian, and Grandson Kai Kai, her sisters Deborah Watts and Donald, Beatrice Julian and Bill, and Kim Jones. Brothers, Warren Julian and Doris, Michael Julian, and Mary (nieces) Lisa Fowkes (Byron) Monica Julian, Joy Williams. Monique Julian, Maria, Melanie Wiliiams (Eddy) Lolita Johnson (Rodney) Marco Julian (Karen) Amiri Mitchell (BJ) Jeremiah Mitchell, Brandin Watts (Rashead), Daryn Watts, (Monique) Reggie McEroy (Richel) Ricky McEroy (Angie) Cory Williams (Monica) and host of cousins and friends. Revelation 21 :4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes, and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain, for the former things are passed away.
