Frances McColl Obituary

Frances Raeder McColl, 94, died July 25, 2008, at home with family in Oklahoma City. Fran will be missed for her caring nature and wonderful wit. She was born in Chicago to Francis and Martha Linde Raeder. From an early age, she won music awards and was soloist with a womens band, touring in the 1930s. She married Arch McColl on New Years Eve, 1935. They lived in Topeka in 1945 and 1946 where Arch was with the Army Air Corps at Forbes Field. They raised their children in Midland, Texas, where Fran was an active volunteer. At 60, she became a nurse, working at Midland Memorial Hospital for 13 years. Frans greatest joys were family and music, books, and nature. Her warm acceptance created joy for others. Fran is survived by her children, Sharon McColl, Oklahoma City; Marge McColl Petty, Topeka; Arch McColl, Dallas; Patty Eaton, Antlers, OK, and six grandchildren, including Brandon and Megan Petty. The memorial service is September 1, 1:00 p.m., Northwest Christian Church, Oklahoma City. Donations can be sent to Arbor Day Foundation, 211 N. 12th St., Lincoln, NE 68508.
