Lily Twaddle Obituary

Funeral services for Lily Twaddle, age 89, of College Springs, Iowa, who entered into peace Thursday, January 13, 2011 at Clarinda Regional Health Center, Clarinda, Iowa were held Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at the Ritchie Funeral Home, Clarinda, Iowa with Reverend Beckie Linn Gregory officiating.

Visitation with the family was held 9-10 a.m., Tuesday, January 18 at the funeral home prior to the service. Burial was in the Maple Hill Cemetery, College Springs, Iowa. Memorials may be directed to the College Springs Rescue Unit. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family on our website at, www.ritchiefuneralhome.com under Obituaries. Arrangements were entrusted to the Ritchie Funeral Home of Clarinda, Iowa.

Lily May Twaddle was born January 7, 1922, in Casper, Wyoming, to John W. Cates and Katherine D. (Brown) Cates. She grew up in the College Springs area, graduating from Amity High School, College Springs, Iowa. She was united in marriage May 27, 1939, in St Joseph, Missouri to Harold K. Twaddle.

Lily lived her entire life in College Springs. She owned and operated the College Springs Café. She was very active in the College Springs community. She enjoyed flower gardening, feeding and watching the birds and had a love of nature. Her family and friends were very important to her and she had a love of all children.

Preceding Lily in death were her parents; husband, Harold (5/27/1987); brother, Raymond R. Cates; sister, Mary J. Brunk.

Left to cherish her memory are children, Dan R. Cates and wife Elizabeth of Leesport, Pennsylvania, Michael F. Twaddle and wife Charlene of Clarinda, Iowa, C. Joell Pentico and husband Valiere of Williamsport, Pennsylvania; grandchildren, Julie M. Pentico, Eric D. Pentico, Jason J.V. Pentico, Nicole A. Twaddle, Jessica E. Fewson, William D. Twaddle; great grandchildren, Lauren E. Rude, Connor D. Rude, Emma C. Rude, Kellen F. Pentico, Hope Marie Pinson, Janie J. Long, Jonah P. Long, J. R. Wilson, Lily Nicole Twaddle; nieces; nephews; and many friends.

Lily will be greatly missed by her family and friends, but her memory and love will live on in their hearts. May God grant comfort and peace to those that mourn her passing.
