RUTH MYRICK Obituary

Ruth Suitor Myrick, of Nashville and Memphis, TN, passed away after a long and fruitful life on December 21, 2014. She was born three days after Christmas in 1916 in the front parlor of her family home in Memphis and was the youngest child of the late Charles and Jessie Suitor. She married the late Col. Gholston Myrick just before the onset of WWII. Ruth graduated from Central High School in Memphis and spent many years as an Army wife, mother, and logistician, and retired from the Civil Service. She was a long-time member and ardent supporter of First United Methodist Church in Memphis and participated in many philanthropic organizations. Ruth is survived by three children, Anita Demster and her late husband Steve of Clarkston, MI; George Myrick and his wife Susan of Lynchburg, VA; and Debbie Baird and her husband Malcolm of Nashville, TN. She was also blessed with 10 grandchildren that are scattered around the world and 17 great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at Memphis Funeral Home on Poplar Avenue on Friday, December 26th at 2 p.m., with visitation at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may made be to First United Methodist Church in Memphis or the charity of choice. Mrs. Myrick was well known and even more well loved by the residents of The Blakeford. She is with her Lord and her family are in our prayers.
