Iris Marsh Obituary

Iris Goodman Marsh Oct. 12, 1924 ~ Dec. 26, 2009 Resident of Rossmoor Iris Goodman Marsh, resident of Rossmoor Walnut Creek, passed away on December 26, 2009. She was born in Newton, Massachusetts, October 12, 1924. Iris and Charles Billings Marsh were married in Florence, Massachusetts in 1943 and celebrated 66 years of marriage last April. Iris spent her early years raising a family in Florence and Longmeadow, Massachusetts. In 1955 the family moved to California. Iris worked for Kaiser Permanente, Orinda Community Church, and Oakland Rotary as the Rotary Club Executive Secretary. While at Oakland Rotary, Iris became a "Paul Harris Fellow." She is a longtime member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and was quite proud of her ancestry and enjoyed tracking down her family genealogy. Iris enjoyed many crafts and expressed her creativity with many projects especially around Christmas. During her retirement, she worked part time for a local gift shop in Moraga and Lafayette and was able to assist shoppers with her creative talent. It is no coincidence that Iris always had rosy cheeks as she is best remembered for her warm loving heart and her generosity to all friends and family. Iris was a beloved mother who always paid attention to every minute detail, whether entertaining friends, working, or caring for her family. She is survived by her three children: Douglas Marsh of Scottsdale, Arizona, Laurie Ross of Houston, Texas, and Eric Marsh of Chatham, New Jersey. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The family would like to express their gratitude to Theo and Gordon Johnson for their loving support and friendship. The family is also eternally grateful to Elder Care Services, Hospice, and Orinda Community Church. A family service will be held in Hatfield, Massachusetts in late spring where she will join her recently deceased beloved husband, Charles.
