John Price Obituary

John Frank Price Oct. 1, 1921 - Sept. 10, 2008 Born in Mt. Harris, Colorado, Frank was the second eldest of ten brothers and sisters. As a young man he worked as a coal miner in Wyoming. During World War II he moved to Alameda where he learned his trade as an electrician in the shipyards. In 1959 he started D&J Electric, a successful electrical contracting business in the Bay Area for over 30 years. Frank was the beloved father of Sherry Price and Kim Sampson; sons-in-law Howard Brizendine and Kenneth Sampson; devoted grandfather of Chalise Guerrero, Trevor Sampson and Troy Sampson; and caring brother of Daisy Walter, George Price and Jackie Wise. He was preceded in death by his son Frankie Eugene Price; his wife of 25 years, Madelyn Price; and Jane Price, his wife of 38 years. He loved his sisters-in-law Jerry Johnson, Dee Price and Mary Price; and brothers-in-law Les Walter and Lee Bramlett; and Jane's granddaughter Courtney Keith. He will be missed by all. Affectionately known to his family as "Mr. Wonderful", he was dedicated to their well-being and they loved him dearly. Frank sponsored many relatives and friends, giving them their start in the electrical profession. He enjoyed dancing, music, particularly New Orleans jazz, traveling and fishing, especially fly-fishing for rainbow trout in Colorado. A memorial service will be held at 11:00am, Saturday, September 20 at the Greer Family Mortuary, 2694 Blanding Ave., Alameda. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in memory of Frank Price to the Alameda Welfare Council, P.O. Box 2265, Alameda, CA 94501. Greer Family Mortuary FD 1408 (510) 865-3755
