Roy Joe Straw

New Harmony, Ind.

Roy Joe Straw, 73, passed away Monday, June 26, 2017, in the comforts of his home. He was born on August 13, 1943, in Gibson County to the late Delbert Edward Straw Sr. and Rachel Lucille Jones.

Joe was a graduate of North Posey High School class of 1961. He was the director of the Posey County Emergency Management from 1981 until he retired in 2006. He worked as a New Harmony Police Officer for 16 years. He was a charter member of the Posey County Sheriff Merit Board from 1974 to 1978. He was also a member of the Evansville Hadi Shrine Temple, Color Guard, and Horse Patrol, and he was the president of the Posey County Shrine Club. Joe also loved to build all sorts of things.

Survivors include his wife of 23 years, Jackie Straw; two daughters, Stephanie (Jerry) Erbacher and Cynthia (Jim) Fifter; stepsons, Timothy Wilsey and Travis Wilsey; brothers, George "Bob" Straw and Delbert E. Straw Sr.; eight grandchildren, Clint (Jennifer), Kayce, and Megan Erabacher, Christopher and Paige Fifer, and Lauren, Tanner, and Jackson Wilsey; a great-grandchild, Parker; and his beloved partner in crime, Black Lab mix, Lucy.

Per Joe's wishes, there will be no memorial services.
