William Clayman Obituary

CLAYMAN: William "Bill" Clayman, age 82 of Stratford, beloved husband of Janet Crandall Clayman, passed away Saturday June 2, 2012. Mr. Clayman was born in Cambridge, MA in 1930,a son of the late Benjamin and Sophie (Kushner) Clayman. He received degrees in Chemical Engineering from Northeastern University and in Business Administration from Carnegie-Mellon University. He worked for a number of chemical companies, but always wanted to answer only to himself and have his own business. In keeping with his penchant for doing things a little differently, Bill founded ATS Laboratories where he devised new test devices used in medical ultrasound. He was an avid sailor of small boats and catamarans, and loved to learn, whether from books, lectures or his own wide travel experiences. He is survived by his devoted children, Tova Clayman and her husband Robert Spaulding, Stephanie Clayman and her husband Greg Steres, Adam Clayman and his wife Caroline Heffron, his adored grandchildren, Rebecca and Teja Clayman, Elijah Steres, and many cherished cousins, nieces and nephews. Mr. Clayman was predeceased by brother Rabbi David Clayman. Services will be held on Tuesday June 5, 2012 at 11:00 AM DIRECTLY at Congregation Beth El Cemetery on Richards Avenue in Norwalk. Shiva will be observed at the home of Janet Clayman in Stratford, following the interment on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday with evening minyan services at 7:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Chai Lifeline / Camp Simcha, 6600 N. Lincoln Avenue, Lincolnwood, IL, 60712 or to Congregation Or Shalom, 205 Old Grassy Hill Road, Orange, CT 06477. The Abraham L. Green and Son Funeral Home of Fairfield is in care of arrangements.
