Jannie Hendley Obituary
Jannie Josephine Hendley, born June 2, 1926 to John D. and Daisy Mae (Mitchell) Burleson in Carlsbad, NM. Raised in the Guadalupe Mountains, before moving to Carlsbad as a young girl, she was one of the few remaining pioneer daughters of Eddy County.
A local historian and genealogist, she assisted with the Brantley Dam Project by identifying gravesites for relocation. Her genealogy research of thirty years focused on the families of the Guadalupe Mountains.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Warren Hendley and sister Lucille Childress.
Jannie is survived by sons: John D. and Pam Adkins of Carlsbad and Wiley and CJ George, Jr. of Alamogordo, NM; daughters: Willa Lee Karrer-Adkins of Tularosa, NM and Delores Jean and Jim Reed of Carlsbad and sister, Renee and Foster Atkins of Lake Meredith, TX; 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

To Delores and all the family, Sorry to hear this.She will be missed.She left ample evidence of her existence on this earth, for all that and much more we are so grateful. She was a unique person. As her oldest cousin in the Mitchell family she will be missed greatly. Love and prayers for all her family. Billy Don and Jessie Lou Mitchell.

You were mine first Grandma Jo..You loved all of us the same regardless of our failures or our success. We could always count on you. We were told many stories and taught many lessons by you. I will miss.. I love you!!
