Robert Ziegler Obituary


Hertford resident

Robert Bradley Ziegler, 91, of 143 Clipper Drive, Hertford, died Friday evening, Jan. 7, 2011, in the home of his granddaughter. Born in Souderton, Pa., he was the widower of Irene Allen Ziegler and the son of the late Henry and Edna Bradley Ziegler. He retired as a 1st Lt. after 23 years in the US Army. He was a member of the Military Officer's Association and the 503rd Infantry Parachute Regimental Association. Survivors include a son, James A. Ziegler of Fairport, N.Y.; six grandchildren, Elizabeth Meads of Hertford, Diane Johnson and husband, Mike, of Hampton, Va., Robert Herndon and wife, Jen, of Utah, Jeff Ziegler and wife, Melissa, of Suffolk, Va., Cheryl Wilcox and husband, Dave, of Chesapeake, Va. and Cameron Ziegler of Fairport, N.Y.; and 14 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a daughter, Margaret Lynn Fonda; and a son, Robert B. Ziegler Jr. Mr. Ziegler is being cremated. No service is being planned. In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to the Salvation Army, 602 N. Hughes Blvd., Elizabeth City, NC 27909. Online condolences may be sent to the family through www.swindellfuneralhome.com. Swindell Funeral and Cremation Services is serving the Ziegler family.
