I met Sister Mary Greco in the early 1970's when she rented a room at my mother's house in Riverdale, NY. My mom (Mary Fahey) and I were very impressed with her kind nature and dedication to her work. We were still struggling with the grief and the economic impact of my father's death. She was very sensitive to our condition and went out of her way to cheer us up. She was a bright candle of hope in our home, and even though it has been forty years since Sister Mary went away to Schenectady, her passing has saddened me even though I know she went straight to Heaven.
With my very deep sympathy,

Easily the most Christ like person I have known. I was so fortunate to have become her friend when she stopped in our antique shop, nine months ago, to purchase a vintage umbrella. Thereafter we visited weekly. The world is a lesser place with the loss of Sister Mary and heaven will be greater for it.

My condolences to all of Mary's family and friends. I was introduced to Mary by my mother when she moved into the neighborhood.. Through the years my mother benefited from her company, help and friendship. I always enjoyed seeing Mary during my visits home because she truly carried with her a grace and serenity that soothes my soul. I will also always cherish the painting Mary gave me of my dairy barn. Rest assured, a prayer will be said every time I see it..

Though I did not know Mary well, we had several conversations at the YW, where we both attended exercise classes. We shared a common interest in the children of Guatemala. I was impressed by her gentle spirit and loving demeanor. My sincerest sympathy to her entire family of loved ones.

I just moved down the street from Mary about four months ago and did not get the chance to meet her personally. Having said that my heart is still heavy with sadness of her lost life. I pray for peace and comfort for her family and friends and those in our neighborhood who are left feeling uneasy. God will watch over us all.

I did not know this woman, but from what I have read, she was a real gem - great person, terrific Christian, walked the walk rather than just talking the talk. I am deeply saddened that she met such an end. My prayers for the repose of her soul and prayers for God's comfort and healing touch upon her friends and family who are left to grieve. Eternal Rest grant unto her, O Lord, and may Perpetual Light shine upon her.
