Portsmouth - Mr. James Leslie Whitehurst, Jr., "Jim", of 45 Royal St., Portsmouth, VA, formerly of Richmond, VA, passed away on Thursday, February 7, 2013 at Riverview on The Appomattox, Hopewell, VA. James was born in Portsmouth, VA and attended the Portsmouth Public Schools graduating from I.C. Norcom High School. He attended Virginia Tech where he received his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) Degree; also the University of Virginia and received his Juris Doctorate.James was a Fighter Pilot in the Vietnam War. He was a Major in the Air Force Reserve in Virginia.James operated a private law practice in Richmond, VA. Son of the late James Leslie Whitehurst, Sr. and Fannie B. Faulkins Whitehurst.He leaves to cherish memories of him, two sons, Christian Eugene Whitehurst of Hopewell, VA and David Leslie Whitehurst (Ashley) of Dinwiddie, VA; one daughter, Nicole Whitehurst Gee (Willis Jr.); three brothers, Eugene Whitehurst of Richmond, VA, Marvin Whitehurst of Hopewell, VA, and Mike Whitehurst of Eastern Shore, VA; three sisters, Rose A. Miller (Jesse) of Maryland, Elder Betty Temple of Virginia Beach and Phyllis Honor of Leesburg, VA. Funeral services for Mr. James Leslie Whitehurst will be held on Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at 2 p.m., from the Chapel of the Virginia Veterans Cemetery, 10300 Pridesville Rd., Amelia, VA, 23002. Visitation will be on Tuesday, February 12, 2013 from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Chapel of the J. L.
