William FOLEY Obituary

WILLIAMSBURG - William 'Bill' R. Foley, 88, died on Dec. 4, 2010.
He leaves behind his beloved wife of 64 years, Leatrice Maryln Foley.
Born on New Year's Eve in 1921 at Nanty Glo, Pa., he grew up in Aliquippa, Pa. He joined the Air Force and served in Europe, West Africa, Korea, Japan, Guam, Turkey, and Brazil. He retired to Williamsburg in 1963, and taught history and government at James Blair High School, eventually becoming its principal. In 1970, he became the Director of the Education Center at Fort Monroe.
Bill leaves a large family: Barbara, Kevin, Michael and Lisa Foley, Deborah and Lyman Hall, and Leslie and Tom McSpadden; 11 grandchildren, Jason and Brian McSpadden, Chris and Erin Larson, Sara Gause, James, Ross, Ryan, and Jonathan Hall, Brent and Colleen Foley, and Melissa Rickman. He was also blessed with two great-grandchildren, Dylan Hite and Wyatt Larson; and nieces and nephews.
The memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 10, 2010, at Nelsen Funeral Home, 3785 Strawberry Plains Road, Williamsburg, VA 23188. Final interment at Arlington National Cemetery will be at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to the WJCC Community Scholarship Fund (Ray Freed Memorial Scholarship), in care of The Williamsburg Community Foundation, P. O. Box 2821, Williamsburg, VA 23187.
