Charlene ELAM Obituary
She leaves to cherish her precious memories with her dedicated and loving mother, Essie L. Elam; three sisters, Karen A Elam, Kimberley L. ELam, Pamela Collins; five brothers, Walter T. Elam Jr., Alonzo Elam, Dennis Elam, Joel Files, Walter Files; her special nephews, Montrell D. Wynn and Christian D Elam; and her special niece, Sherrice L Elam; and a host of nieces and nephews, loving aunts and uncle, and a wonder host of cousins and friends.
Viewing will be held from noon to 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 24, 2010, at Cooke Bros. Funeral Chapel.
Charlene's homegoing service will be held Saturday, Sept. 25, at 11a.m. at the United House of Prayer for All People, 1811 Ivy Ave, Newport News, VA 23607. Interment will follow in Hampton Memorial Gardens.

God look down at his angel to see her tired soul. He begin to whisper its time to come home. So she look towards the light & made the flight. Sis Essie she has not left u alone, she just went ahead to prepare u a home, just as u did for her so many years. I will keep you all in my prayers. To know her was to LOVE her!!
I am so glad that I KNEW Charlene and understood her in many ways that only GOD could handle.
I THANK GOD, once again, for hearing MY prayers over the years for my dear cousin. "She KNEW GOD and HE KNEW her"
Charlene was such a LOVING, CARING and SHARING person with a GODLY SPIRIT. She loved her family and always felt the need to let you know this; as well as give you a bear hug whenever you were in her presence. Sometimes she would sneak in a kiss too. LOL!!
I'm personally going to miss Charlene because she was special to me. The laughter, the singing, the remember whens(just to name a few) and her constantly reminding me that she was older than me(smile).
To my immediate family: Stay strong in the Lord. Don't forget to Thank GOD for what HE has done for Charlene over the years. He deserve the honor and the glory!!
