This is a tribute to Mrs. Paulson, from a 'family member' - Mary Lou's husband. It is based on my first remembrance meeting Mrs. Paulson and the rest of the family - I believe early summer of 1966. Having been dating Mary Lou at The College of William and Mary in the springtime, she invited me to her home (where I went on my motorbike - did not have a car). I especially recall the first (probably a Sunday) big family meal. It is an ex. of how Mrs. Paulson took care of me. I was not used to such a spread - the many dishes she put out. I learned to really like a baked corn pudding, and ham and turkey (always both meats!), the pickle condiments (I love pickles), the pies . . .
It was the first time of many that she took care of me, for some fourty four years.
P.S. It was good to see the note from the Higgins - some of my earliest memories included Guy Higgins talking to Mr. Frank Paulson at the kitchen table with Mrs. Paulson fixing the coffee and/or participating in the conversation. As we drove down to the funeral a couple days ago, we thought about you all and wondered if you were still in the Hampton area - thank you for your good wishes

Frances and Mary Lou: I am so sorry for the loss of your mother. I remember her well when we were so young at Langley View. I just recently saw Rudy Paucker and we talked about Mrs. Paulson. I am so sorry I did not know; I would have come to the funeral home for the visitation. Thinking of you all. A chapter of your life has closed but I am sure you have wonderful memories of her. I know all the students she had really loved her. Blessings to you both. Penney Stott Martin
