Charles Edward Burruss

Charles Edward Burruss departed this life on Monday, February 15, 2011, at his residence surrounded by his love ones.

He was born on August 14, 1951, in Louisa County, the son of the Late Margaret Poindexter Burruss and Charlie Burruss. Charles was preceded in death by his brother, Clifton Burruss; and a sister, Alberta Henson.

Brother Charles joined was Evergreen Bibleway Church at an early age.

Respectfully known as "Johnny" to his family and friends, Charles was a well known person in his neighborhood. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Charles fought a long battle with cancer. However he continued his passion for fishing and joying riding in his 1972 Chevy truck.

Charles was married on October 15, 1977 to Sadie Henson Burruss.

He is survived by his wife; two sons, Jonathan Burruss and his wife, Duskia, of Waynesboro, Virginia, and Kevin Burruss of Louisa, Virginia; three sisters, Della Fortune and her husband, Lloyd, Lucy "Katie" Minor and her husband, George, and Emily Johnson and her husband, Harvey; brother-in-law, Clinton "Med" Henson; sister-in-law, Ruth "Ellen" Burruss, all of Louisa, Virginia; ten grandchildren, Jovon Burruss, Kiara Washington, Jamar Burruss, Kevin Burruss Jr., Kellen Williams, Quiana Scott, Xhavier Scott, Lidia Burruss, Maya Burruss and Teneya Scott; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends, and a devote friend, Floyd Clark.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, February 18, 2011, at Thomasson Watson Funeral Chapel, 117 West Street, Louisa,VA 23093. Interment will follow at the Ragland family cemetery.
