Martha Jane (Rogers) Burruss, 88, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at her home in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.
Born in Little Caney, Kansas, in June 1937, Martha was the daughter of the late Clifford A. Rogers and Mary C. (Henderson) Rogers. She received her education in Copan, Oklahoma, and carried the spirit of her hometown throughout her life.
On November 15, 1956, Martha married James Lewis Burruss in Bartlesville, marking the beginning of a devoted marriage that lasted nearly seven decades. Martha embraced the life of a dedicated military spouse for 20 years, an experience that demonstrated her resilience and commitment as she maintained a loving home for her family across various postings.
She will be remembered as a kind and loving matriarch whose greatest joy was her family.
Martha was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Ed and Marvin; and her grandson, James Casey Burruss.
She is survived by a large and loving family, including: Her brother, Clifford (Dee) Rogers of Oklahoma. Her four children: Daughter, Kathy (Burruss) Broussard and her husband, Mark, Son, Allan Burruss and his wife, Glenda, Son, Mark W. Burruss and his wife, Donna, Daughter, Karen (Burruss) Vaughn and her husband, Wayne. Her legacy continues through her 14 cherished grandchildren and 23 adored great-grandchildren.
