Claude Leake Obituary

Claude Montello Leake

Claude Montello Leake Jr., 85, of Waynesboro, passed away on Sunday, December 13, 2009, at Augusta Health.

He was born January 30, 1924, in North Garden, Albemarle County, a son of the late Mary Elizabeth Oliver and Claude Montelle Leake Sr.

Mr. Leake served in the Army during World War II with Company A, 207TH Engineer Combat Battalion. He was an active member of Main Street United Methodist Church. He was retired from Quality Control Department at General Electric.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Helen Leake Waghorn; three brothers, John Samuel Leake, James Edwin Leake and Brent Oliver Leake.

Survivors include his wife, Rebecca Jane Foller; one son, Claude Montelle Leake III and his wife, Diane Taylor Leake, of Mobile, Alabama; two sisters-in-law, Charlene Leake and Marge Leake.

A memorial service will be conducted 2 p.m. Thursday, December 17, 2009, at Main Street United Methodist Church with the Reverend Neil Hough and the Reverend Bill Mayton officiating.

A private family graveside service will be held at Augusta Memorial Park earlier in the day.

The family requests memorial contributions be made to Main Street United Methodist Church, 601 West Main Street, Waynesboro, VA 22980.

Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes and Crematory of Waynesboro is entrusted with the arrangements.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Claude's Family and he will be missed at the lunch time table. Hopefully Jane will still come to lunch We would hate to lose you both.
