Damian Silvera Obituary

Damian Silvera was born on July 27, 1974, in Flushing, New York, and died on Monday, June 14, 2010, in Houston, Texas.

Damian had a passion for playing soccer after being named to the All American High School team. He attended the University of Virginia from 1992 until 1995, leaving there with three NCAA National Championships. In 1995, he was drafted by the New York MetroStars and his dream of playing Professional Soccer became a reality. In 1996, he joined the United States National team for the Summer Olympics and finally finished his career with the Kansas City Wizards. In 2001, he started coaching soccer to youngsters and the passion was renewed. Damian moved to Houston in 2003 to be closer to his brother.

He is survived by one brother; three sisters; four nieces, and three nephews.

We were so very saddened to learn of Damian's passing. Damian was an incredibly talented soccer player and a very handsome and respectful and fine young man. We send our heartfelt sympathy to his family. Sincerely, Terri and Scott Sommer and Family
