Dana Jo Thacker, 35, of Kansas City, Missouri, went to be with the Lord on Friday, December 25, 2009, at her home.

She is survived by her daughter, Lindsey Marie Branch; her mother and stepfather, Phoebe-Jane and Bernard Grubbs of Goochland; her father and step-mother, Robert and Sammye Thacker of Oklahoma; brothers and their wives, Robert and Sheila Thacker of Quinton, Thomas and Shannon of Marion, Iowa; and one step-sister, Lorie Grubbs; and one stepbrother, Kevin Grubbs, both of Louisa. Other survivors include nephews, Julian Thacker, Jake and Brandon Merfeld, and Nico Alessi; nieces, Adrianna Alessi and Casey Grubbs; one aunt, Julie Grandstaff; uncles; Ralph Vick and his wife, Sherry, James Thacker and his wife, Paula, Richard L. Thacker and his wife, Joyce; cousins, Chad Tudor, Dustin Vick, Pam Saunders, Melissa D'Antuono, Laura Hening, Richie Thacker, Danielle Thacker and Jim Grandstaff.

Dana Jo graduated from Goochland High School and was a member of the National Art Honor Society. She had an artistic talent that could have been a career but, rather, she chose to marry and have a family. Dana Jo moved to Kansas City to make it her home for 14 years. She was missed so much, but had always marched to a different drum beat. At eight years of age she asked the Lord into her heart and was baptized. She is at last with her Grandma whom she had grieved for so much and her Nanny, who was very special to her. Her beloved daughter, Lindsey Marie was the absolute light of her life.

A memorial service will be 1:30 p.m. Sunday, January 10, 2010, at Beulah Baptist Church in Kents Store, Virginia, with a fellowship time following the service. Pastor Jason Taylor will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the National Fibromyalgia Association, 2121 South Towne Centre Place, Suite 300, Anaheim, CA 92806, or Beulah Baptist Cemetery Fund, 1436 Kents Store Way, Kents Store, Virginia 23084.

My Dearest Friend Dana Jo. We met 20 plus years ago and the day we met I had no idea the impact you would have on my life. You are my dearest friend, like a sister to me and I love you so much. We shared some great times together and goodness knows I will never forget your laugh, ecspecially the laugh of you doing something you knew you shouldn't. I love you and miss you so very much. Until we meet again my friend.
