Elizabeth Estes Obituary

Published by Daily Progress on Dec. 8, 2009.
Elizabeth C. Estes

Elizabeth C. Estes, 83, of Charlottesville, Virginia, died early Saturday morning, December 5, 2009, at Trinity Mission Health.

Elizabeth was born on November 11, 1926, in Charlottesville. She was the daughter of the late Percy and Hazel Cummings. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Warren Estes; a son, Gordon Richard Estes; a sister, Gladys Sandridge; and a brother, Percy "Sonny" Cummings.

She is survived by a son, Martin Estes; a daughter-in-law, Zhiwei Estes; a sister-in-law, Janice Cummings; a niece, Lisa Briggs and her husband, Joel; brothers-in-law, Zirkle James "Jimmy" Estes, and Buddy Estes and his wife, Marta; and other loved ones.

Elizabeth had a love of life and was always smiling. She loved to paint and play the piano. She had a warm spot in her heart for young people and was a joy to be around. You could count on her for anything. Her greatest love was for her Creator, Jehovah God. She dedicated her life to Him and was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses on August 4, 1956. She looked forward to the time when the Earth will be restored to a Paradise as promised in the Bible, and loved sharing that hope with people in the community.

A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, December 12, 2009, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 101 Stephens Loop, Ruckersville, Virginia (off Route 33, two miles west of the Route 29 intersection). Larry Barry will be officiating.

Family will be receiving friends one hour before the memorial service at the Kingdom Hall.

The family wishes to express special thanks to Dr. Andrea Tribastone and all the loving support offered by Hospice of the Piedmont.
