Elva Dorothy Dunn Huckstep went to be with the Lord on Monday, February 22, 2010. She went in peace, comforted by the love of her family.

Elva was born on January 30, 1920, to George Allen Dunn and Annie Frances Wood Dunn.

Elva, affectionately known as Nannie, was preceded in death by her parents and her loving husband of 66 years, Truman Luellen Huckstep; as well as her brothers, Robert, Andrew, Ezra, Phillip and Sidney; and sisters, Pansy, Mary Emma and Grace; a great- granddaughter, Sydney Lauren Carranza; and two special family members Stella Huckstep and Louise Jackson.

She is survived by her five children, Dorothy and her husband, Homer Gibson, Louise and her husband, Duke O'Conner, George Huckstep and his wife, Debbie, Diana and her husband, Wayne Jordan, and David Huckstep; two sisters, Elizabeth Blackwell and Sally Price, 13 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and six great--great-grandchildren.

Elva was a long-time member of Mount Moriah United Methodist Church in Whitehall, Virginia, serving the Lord in many ways. She was a lifetime member of the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post 8436 in Yancey Mills and she retired from Acme Visible Records in 1982.

A special thank you is given to Dr. Debbie Campbell and her associates and the Hospice of the Piedmont members for their care given and love shown. To her friends that came to visit, thank you for making her days brighter.

A memorial service will be conducted 1 p.m. Friday, February 26, 2010, at Mount Moriah United Methodist Church with the Reverend Chris McLain officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of the Piedmont, 675 Peter Jefferson Parkway, Suite 300, Charlottesville, Virginia 22911 or the Mount Moriah United Methodist Women's Group of Mount Moriah United Methodist Church, 4524 Garth Road, Charlottesville, Virginia 22901.
