George Gordon Obituary
Gordon Sr.
George A. Gordon Sr., 84, of Charlottesville, formerly of Orange, departed this life on Friday, December 18, 2009, at the Martha Jefferson Hospital in Charlottesville.
He was born November 21, 1925, in Orange County to the late Oscar and Kate Carey Gordon. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Michael A. Carey; two brothers, Isaiah Gordon and Selma Williams; two sisters, Elenor Gordon and Sudie Williams.
Mr. Gordon was employed by the District of Columbia at the Highway Department from where he retired.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary Carey Gordon of Charlottesville; a son, George A. Gordon and his wife, Carolyn, of Barboursville; one sister, Mrs. Betty Ann Jenkins of Washington; nine grandchildren, 18 great- grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, December 24, 2009, at the Chestnut Grove Baptist Church in Barboursville with Pastor James H. Louderback officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.
Viewing will be held from 12 until 8 p.m. Wednesday, December 23, 2009, at the funeral home and from 12 until 1 p.m. Thursday, December 24, 2009, at the church.
Satchell's Funeral Service of Orange is in charge of arrangements.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

We lost a wondereful uncle but God gained powerful soldier for his army. We had the greatest times and enjoy the laughters with you. Those times shall come again when we get on the other side.

Dear Family and Friends,
Please advised that I have moved. I received a call from God. The Chief Architect last week and he informed me that my new home was complete.
You all know that I have been working on my building, sending up my timber, packing up and getting ready to go. I knew that my mansion needed some finishing touches and the Chief Carpenter, Jesus Christ, had to inspect it and give me the final approval. On December 18, 2009 he let me know that my mansion was complete and that I could move in. So he told me to go ahead and change my address!
Well, my new home is finished and what a sight it is to behold! It is located on an exclusive estate and behind a beautiful pearly gate. It is just over on the other side of a serene celestial shore, of course, you know the streets are paved with gold and every day is Sunday, just as you've been told. Trees with twelve manners of fruit grace my garden here and I can walk and talk with my Master with not a worry or care.
I lived in the Washington DC area and then the Charlottesville, Virginia area all of my life, but my mew home is so much better than any other place that I have ever lived.
There is peace here, and joy, happiness, no pain or heartache, no more pills or doctors. No strife or discontent, only sweet serenity. I can dine at the Master's bountiful table and listen to a heavenly choir.
And best of all, my Heavenly Father is here in all his Glory! And, oh yes, I have my own designer here who has fitted me with my very own white robe and my wings.
I could go on and on about my new home, but instead I'm going to pray that you get to move here yourself one day. Before I go though, let me give you my new address:
