Harold Lester Schebe

Harold Lester Schebe, 88, of Palmyra, passed away on Saturday, May 22, 2010, at his residence.

He was born on May 26, 1921, in Freeport, New York, to the late Frederick Schebe and Emma Bedell Schebe.

He is survived by his wife, Lynn Schebe; their two daughters, Deborah Schebe Lennick and her husband, Jamie, of Richmond, and Karen Schebe of West Palm Beach, Florida; two grandchildren, McKenzie and Josh Lennick; a sister, Ruth Vetter of Mount Pleasant, Michigan; along with many nieces and nephews.

Harold was a graduate of Hofstra University, as well as a past member of the Thomas Jefferson Lion's Club, the Charlottesville Civitans Club, and a past board member of Eastern Long Island Hospital. He served his country in the United States Navy during World War II.

A memorial service will be held 3 p.m. Tuesday, May 25, 2010, with the Reverend Sidney Craig officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation 503 Libbie Avenue, Richmond, VA 23206.

Harold was a wonderful guy, in many ways. Since those first days at JMU, I have been one of his fans . . . as have I been a fan of his daughter Debi. He was an ace, and we, the Zink family will always miss him. RIP, Harold.
