Harold Ryland Green Sr.

Harold Ryland Green Sr., 75, of Manassas, passed away on Thursday, April 29, 2010, after a long illness.

He was born on July 4, 1934, in Hollywood, Maryland, the son of the late David and Lela Butler Green. On September 6th, 1953, in Elizabeth City, North Carolina, he married the former Julia Beverly, who survives.

Mr. Green was the owner and operator of both the Gainesville Mobil station for several years, and H & J Service in Scottsville. He was a Deacon and caretaker of the James River Baptist Church in Scottsville and for 12 ½ years worked for Monticello Security near Charlottesville.

Surviving besides his beloved wife of 56 years, Julia Green of Manassas; are two daughters, Patricia Herndon and her husband, George, of Culpeper, Judy Spivey of Manassas; two sons, J. Michael Green of Manassas and Harold Green Jr. of Hawaii; eight brothers, four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; and two friends that he held dear, John Campbell and Steve Urry of Manassas.

The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 p.m. Tuesday, May 4, 2010, at the Baker-Post Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 10001 Nokesville Road, Manassas.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 5, 2010, at the funeral home chapel with the Reverend James J. Jetton officiating. Interment will follow at Stonewall Memory Gardens in Manassas, Virginia.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may take the form of a donation to the James River Baptist Church, P.O. Box 127, Scottsville, VA 24590.
