Jannie Feggans Obituary

Published by Daily Progress from Dec. 25 to Dec. 27, 2009.
Jannie "Nanny" Feggans

Jannie "Nanny" Feggans of Charlottesville, Virginia, formerly of Esmont, Virginia, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 22, 2009, at the Martha Jefferson Hospital.

Mother Feggans was born in Esmont, Virginia, on June 4, 1909. She was married to the late Frank T. Feggans and was also preceded in death by her youngest son, Englar M. Feggans; and stepson, Franklin "Fritz" Feggans.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories three devoted children, Benjamin Feggans and his wife, Molly, of Charlottesville, Virginia, the Reverend Lloyd Feggans Sr. and his wife, Marie, of Esmont, Virginia, and Joyce Thomas of Charlottesville, Virginia; stepson, Wilber Harris of Springfield, Massachusetts; 15 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Edward Nelson of Maryland; one sister, Bernice Hilliard of San Antonio, Texas; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Also surviving are special friends, Dr. Horace and Mrs. Rice of Madison Heights, Virginia, Mrs. Ruth Brooks of Esmont, Virginia, Mrs. Eugenia Durrett of Charlottesville, Virginia; the church families of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church of Goochland, Virginia, the New Store Baptist Church of Buckingham County, Virginia, and the New Green Mountain Baptist Church family where she was a dedicated member and served with the ushers ministry for many years.

Mother was a devoted Christian and was never ashamed to worship and praise the Lord. She made many friends to cherish her memory while traveling extensively with her son in his ministry. She had a passion for "love" and did not fail to exhibit it. Mother Feggans was a lifelong resident of the Esmont community until she moved to Charlottesville, Virginia, to live with her daughter and caregiver.

A celebration of life service will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, December 30, 2009, at the New Green Mountain Baptist Church, Porters Road, Esmont, with Pastor Reverend Dr. Sylvester Turner will officiate and Pastor Dr. Horace Rice will be the eulogist.

Services of comfort are entrusted to the staff of McClenny Funeral Service, Inc.

Family- Rev. Feggans, Ben & Joyce-- Keep the memories of your mother close to your heart & smile when you think of her. Though we are sorry for your loss, she will always be close by. Her smile was contagious and I always will remmeber she & my Bigmoma visits as they ran into each other in Scottsville many years ago, they would chat & laugh.. And that is my memory of her. Take care of each other. Blessings Always,
