Kathy was my step mom, and I feel so blessed to have made her a grandmother before she passed. She was amazingly loving and kind, and was such a wonderful influence on me. I will miss her presence on this earth, but I know she is in a better place.

Sadly, I did not know Kathy for nearly as long as I would have liked. But even in the time of a few short years it was easy to know her authentically kind and generous nature. I am blessed to have known her, as I am pleased that Jean and Isabella had the benefit of her most special love and adoration. I remember Jean, Grant, Sarina, and Isabella, along with Kathy's soul in my prayers.
To the family, I offer the quote I hang on to: Don't be dismayed at goodbyes; a farewell is necessary before we can meet again. And meeting again after moments or lifetimes is certain for those who are friends.

I met Kathy while working at the Kidney Center when she first came to Renal. She was the best NP and would always take time for the nurses too. She will be greatly missed. My thoughts and prayers are with her family at this time. May God Bless you.

Kathy,
You will be truly missed! You were so special to me, you taught me so many things. How to swim, how to mow grass on a riding mower, how to tinker with tools, all while my mom was keeping house for you. Those things that I missed by not having my father around.
I love you and I miss you. You will always be in my heart.
Love,
Rusty

I knew Kathy for a very long time. I met her when I was an intern at UVA in 1990. She was a great person and a great nurse practitioner. She was a great friend, too. I will miss her and I am glad I knew her. Love to all. Margie

I have many good memories of Kathy. I met her when she first came to work at the Kidney Center at UVA. She was an awesome NP and was always very concerned about her patients. Even while fighting her own battle with cancer she still would always put her patients needs first. She loved her family and would sometimes bring Isabella with her (what a sweet girl. I pray for your family and for their comfort and peace right now. Kathy you will be missed.

Kathy worked with my Mom when she was on dialysis from 1988 - 1995. She not only made life better for my Mom while she was on dialysis, but for the family also. She was a very caring person who was devoted to her job and most of all to her patients. My prayers are with her family at this time.

So sorry for your loss. The world has lost a wonderful soul. I worked with Kathy for many years in the ER at U.Va. She was a wonderful clinician and a special human being. She has a terrific sense of humor and a special ability to make everyone feel better. She will be greatly missed.
