Kenneth Wade Obituary

Published by Daily Progress from Jun. 11 to Jun. 12, 2010.
Kenneth Rosser Wade

Kenneth Rosser Wade passed away at the age of 82, on Wednesday, June 9, 2010, at the Martha Jefferson Hospital after a short illness.

He was born on January 23, 1928, in Batesville, Virginia. He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Alma Pace Wade; his parents, Ethelbert and Ruby M. Wade; a brother, Boyd E. Wade Sr.; and a sister, Peggy W. Flick.

He is survived by his son, Lindsay M. Harrington and his wife, Debbie, of Punta Gorda, Florida; three daughters, Lynda H. Lattimore, Jane Harrington-Crawford and her husband, Bruce, and Joan H. Buchanan and her husband, Banks, all of Richmond, Virginia. He also leaves behind two grandchildren, Loren M. Harrington and his wife, Amanda, of Punta Gorda, Florida, and Lisa N. Harrington of Woburn, Massachusetts; two sisters, Mildred Geer of Charlottesville and Charlotte W. Maupin and her husband, Randy, of McGaheysville, Virginia; and a brother, Malcolm W. Wade and his wife, Eleanor, of Charlottesville.

Mr. Wade was employed by The Daily Progress for over 20 years as a Pressman and by the Albemarle School System for over 25 years as a school bus driver. He often bragged that he had transported the grandchildren of children he had driven to school many years ago. He was a member of Cherry Avenue Christian Church for 50 years and led a Christian life. He loved visiting with family, friends and neighbors and making new friends was easy for him. To know him was to know a kind and gentle man. His past-times were his wife, family, and Albemarle High School and the University of Virginia football and in the past year he enjoyed his police/emergency scanner and friends at The Fox Restaurant which kept him abreast of events around the City and County.

The family would like to express their deepest appreciation to the doctors, nurses and staff on the sixth floor at the Martha Jefferson Hospital as well as his niece and spouse, Lois Jean and Johnny Bryant and neighbors, Marvin and Maudie Chisholm.

A funeral service will be held at Hill and Wood Funeral Home, 2:30 p.m. Sunday, June 13, 2010, with interment at Riverview Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 4 until 7 p.m. Saturday, June 12, 2010, at Hill and Wood Funeral Home.
