Linwood N. Diggs

Linwood N. Diggs, 88, "Pops" of Main Street, Waynesboro, departed this life on Thursday, November 12, 2009, at Augusta Health in Fishersville, Virginia.

He was born September 11, 1921, in Greenwood, Virginia, a son of Chester Diggs and Roberta Smith.

He retired from the Charlottesville school system and was a veteran of the United States Navy.

His parents; his wife, Sally Diggs; and a son, Rochester Diggs, preceded him in death.

He is survived by two sons, Isaac Diggs of Waynesboro, Virginia, and Curtis Dickerson of California; two daughters, Selena Sims of Charlottesville, Virginia, and Mildred Wright of Verona, Virginia; a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.

A memorial service will be conducted 6 p.m. Tuesday, November 17, 2009, at the chapel of McCutcheon's Funeral Home.
