Nancy Jane Herring Nancy Jane Herring, 89, died at Summit Square in Waynesboro on Tuesday, August 24, 2010.

She was born on December 29, 1920, in Greenville, North Carolina, to the late William A. Sellers and Esther Arnold Sellers. She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Nancy Eileen Herring; and one brother, David Philip Sellers.

She is survived by her husband, Dr. Russell E. Herring of Crozet; three sons, Robert Earl Herring of Arlington, Virginia, Russell Timothy Herring of Waynesboro, Virginia, Stephen Arnold Herring of Ashland, Virginia; one brother, William A. Sellers Jr. of Gainesville, Georgia; four grandchildren, Corbin Gillian, James Herring, Emily Herring, and William Patrick Herring.

She was an active member of the Crozet United Methodist Church and a veteran of the Navy (WAVES) in World War II. Her life was family, home, and volunteering.

The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to Westen Albemarle Rescue Squad, P.O. 188, Crozet, VA 22932, or Crozet United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 70, Crozet, VA 22932.

The family will receive friends at the Crozet United Methodist Church from 12 until 1 p.m. Friday, August 27, 2010, prior to the memorial service at 1 pm. Private interment will follow at Wesley Chapel in Free Union, Virginia, with the Reverend Douglas Forrester officiating.
