Rebecca Lynn "Becki" Bailey

Rebecca Lynn "Becki" Bailey, 56, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, November 22, 2010. She passed away peacefully at home with her family at her side after a long battle with breast cancer.

Becki was born to Patricia and Elton Simpkins in Belleville, Illinois, on November 12, 1954. She grew up in Princeton, West Virginia with her brothers Jeff, Mack, and Courtney.

Becki moved to Charlottesville in 1987 and has resided there ever since with her husband and two children. Becki was a retired employee of the State of Virginia, working over 20 years with the Division of Child Support Enforcement. She was an active member of the Maple Grove Christian Church where she enjoyed serving, teaching, and singing with the praise team. Becki's biggest joys in life were serving the Lord and being with her family.

Becki was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Mack and Helen Whittaker, as well as her paternal grandparents, Raymond and Ina Simpkins.

She is survived by her husband of 29 years, Steve Bailey; her daughter and son-in-law, Amanda and Jimmy Vickers; her son, Zack Bailey; and her grandson, Hunter James Vickers.

Becki was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Becki is remembered for her unconditional love for others and her incredible faith in Jesus Christ.

Services will be held at the Maple Grove Christian Church 11 a.m. Saturday, December 4, 2010.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the American Cancer Society or Maple Grove Christian Church.

Friends may send condolences to the family at www.hillandwood.com.

We offer our condolences to Steve and his family. Knowing Becki, she is experiencing happiness beyond our comprehension. She would not want us to be sad. Becki would want us to know she is with Jesus and nothing can compare to that here!

I am very saddened about this news, however I know Becki is having the best time in Heaven. When I was at Maple Grove, Becki made me feel very welcomed. Her charm and personality would light up any room. I pray for comfort for the Baily family and want to say I am so glad Becki was and will always be my friend.

My deepest sympathy goes out to the Bailey family. Becki was a remarkable friend of mine at Maple Grove. She was such a strong Christian with a undying faith. I remember talking with her about a year ago about her cancer and she laughed and responded, "Either way,I win! If the Lord heals me and I stay here longer, I win..but if the Lord doesn't heal me and I go to be with Him, I win". This was just the way she looked at everything...positively. Becki ministered to me in many ways in the 8 years I've know her and I will hold so many precious memories of her in my heart for always. God be with you Steve, Zach and Amanda and that precious little Hunter.

Much love,
Missy Tibbetts

We Weatherill girls are all thinking of you and praying for grace and comfort for you. It has been a privilege to know all of you but most especially Becki who we know was the "glue" in the Bailey household. Thank you for the beautiful example of a Christian family thriving in a dark world. We can't wait until we are all together again. Love, peace and hope to you in the meantime.
Love,

Steve and family,

Becki was "sold out" for Jesus and her faith inspired so many of us. I was truly blessed to have spent some quality time with her exercising and worshiping the One true GOD.

I know that life will not be the same without her for you, and us as well. She was one of those special people who on their passing you wonder how you will get along without them. I know she would want us to honor her memory by keeping our spirits up and telling everyone we know what a wonderful friend we have in Jesus.

This Thanksgiving, I will be offering thanks for her presence in my life. My thoughts, prayers, and love are with all of you as you grieve.

Steve, Jeff and all the family: My heart breaks for the sadness I know you're feeling. Today, I'm remembering Becky's smile - one of the first I saw as a first grader - and her all-out laugh that was so contagious and fun. I'm praying that sweet memories will ease the hurt a bit and pray for God's loving arms to be wrapped around each of you.

Steve,

I am heartbroken with Becki's death. I can see her dancing...she so loved to dance and sing! I cannot imagine what you all have been going through. With the blessed event of your grandson to Becki's illness...what a roller coaster! I have known Becki forever! You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers. Becki is singing with the angels...may God wrap his loving arms around you and walk with you through these coming days. Peace be with you...Kris and David Bailey
