Bryan's Letter to Rob
He was just a city boy / Going around to change your view /
Sunk your roots down in a small town VA / With a family that loved you /
Took my older brother and I / in his arms as if we was his own /
It's like I lost my Dad / when he had to go /
Always loved his woman / My Mom I'm talking about /
And if he has something to say / Damn right he's gonna open his mouth /
Taught me you make your tools work for you /
You don't work for them / And a thief can always be somebody that's a kin /
I picked a hell of man / When I got him and Mom hooked up /
I can't do it again / Cause he was my best friend /
We was closer than me and my Dad / Even through the rocky times we had /
He pulled me through hard times / Crumbled relationships and bad dealings /
He told it how it was / Even if it hurt their feelings /
He taught me a lot / When times was hard
Said it takes time to heal broken hearts/ He wouldn't show that he was hurt /
Even if he felt like it / Told me you can always receive pain if you're the one that's dealt it /
That day he came by worked on the chimney / I saw him and Mom make eye contact /
Love was in the air and that was plenty / I'd tell him "Mom baked you a cake" /
The cake I would make / Mom helped with the dressing /
Then I would run it down to him / With all my Mom's blessing /
I did that for a while / 'Til they started talking and with that first smile /
With nothing to impress Mom said yes /
When he asked her out I knew I had my Dad for the house /
He raised me right, tough, straight to the point /
Always told me "You can call me anything except a Punk!" /
He told me old stories about stealing cars, broken hearts and fights at the bar /
And he loved his whole family down to the core /
I guess this is the end and a brand new beginning /
I'll cherish the love we had with my every sentence /
We're just an ordinary family that lost someone special /
You've always blessed us, man, so "Dad, Bless You!"
