We thought of 'Winn' as my mother knew her at Marshall, today on her birthday. My mother and she were the very closest of friends and kept that going in one of those rare friendships that last, in this case for nearly 70 years. She misses talking to her on the phone. They would call on their birthdays.

Winn was there for my mother during some dark days, and even at a distance (my mother still lives in WV) she was a fixture in our lives, in a relationship that seems as dear and close as people can have.

Our best to her surviving family,
-Ed Altizer, and 'Dean'(Betty Dean Altizer Chappell) because at Sigma Sigma Sigma at Marshall in the 1940's the sisters went by last names.

My heart goes out to the entire Gooch family, especially Pam and Pat and families. I love picturing Mrs. Gooch in heaven, reunited with her dear husband. Yes, Mrs. Gooch taught me to type and type very quickly and well. Heaven forbid I should ever steal a glance at the keyboard.
May God bless you all richly with His love and care.

Pam and family,

I was saddened to learn of your mother's passing.

While I never had her for a class, her presence graced Fluvanna's halls. She was a wonderful lady.

May your memories comfort and sustain you in the days ahead, and may God bless you all.

Sincerely,

Tulita "Pat" Owen

We knew Ginny and Bob through the world of outdoor communications and always looked forward to seeing both of them at regional and national conferences. Both of them were absolutely wonderful people of the gentle, genteel sort associated with all that is good and gracious about the Southland. They befriended us from the first time we met them, and each time we saw them was an occasion of renewed joy. Their children, sons-in-law, and grandchildren can take quiet but meaningful comfort in knowing that they made long and significant contributions as teachers, writers, role models, and friends. Our thoughts and condolences to you, and both of us will always treasure our memories of Ginny and Bob. Jim and Ann Casada, Rock Hill, SC

Ginny Gooch was a wonderful and gentle lady and will be deeply missed. Those of us in the outdoors writing world knew her as an equal partner in the Gooch writing team. Together and individually that "team" left this world a far better place and we are all grateful for that. Thanks Ginny (and Bob)for sharing yourselves with us. Sincerely, Nancy and Randy Sorrells

Pam, Pat and Family: My prayers are with you at this time. Mrs. Gooch was a truly loving, caring person who will be greatly missed. I last spent some time with her in Oct 07 at our 40th reunion. She touched and influenced so many of her students and memories of her will live on. God Bless you all

We were both surprised and saddened to learn of Ginny's death. Courtney knew her as a family friend and neighbor for over sixty years and Floyd knew her for almost that long as a teacher and friend. She was a gracile lady who always knew what to say and do. Her many friends and former students will miss her.

Pam, Pat and family: Thoughts and prayers are with you all in the loss of such a wonderful, caring person. We all loved Mrs. Gooch and have benefited for many years from her wonderful teaching skills. I had her for typing and shorthand (graduated with Pat in '69) and I still use my shorthand to this day in my work. It's a rare talent I'm told and I owe it all to Mrs. Gooch. May your love and precious memories of her keep her in your hearts. May God bless you all.

Our condolences to Pat and Pam. Mrs. Gooch was our typing and bookkeeping teacher at FCHS, class of '66. She was our neighbor, freind and our mom's SS teacher. When you were being bad, her stare would be all it would take. We are all better people today, because of Ginny Gooch.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Gooch Family. Mrs. Gooch was my Business Teacher at FCHS in the 1950's. She taught Accounting, Shorthand and Typing. Always had a very pretty smile on her face, very seldom was it not shown.
