Ann Purser Obituary

Ann Dunbar Purser

OPELOUSAS - A loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Ann Dunbar Purser, age 77, departed this life on Saturday, August 17, 2013, at 7:45 a.m. at Prompt Succor Nursing Home in Opelousas, LA.

Ann was a devout Catholic and a woman of great faith. She loved the Lord and trusted Him in all things. She served God and sang His praises with her beautiful voice. Her voice will be missed here but surely welcomed by the Heavenly choir. Through her dedication to the church and the Lord, she helped many children and adults in their journey to Catholicism. She served on the Altar Society and graced God's altars with beautiful flowers picked from her yard, her mother's yard, and the yards of her many friends.

Ann is survived by Robert and Kari Purser of Opelousas and their children, Robert II, Alex Ann, and Blake; Melinda Purser Anders of Frisco, Texas, and her two daughters, Katie and Amanda Anders; Llaine Purser Williams and her husband, Charlie of Lafayette and their children, Ryan, Jared, Jacob, and Blaire; John and Jill Purser of Opelousas and their children, Christopher, Caroline, and Jack; and Michael and Stacey Purser of Opelousas and their children, Allison and Adam; as well as 3 great grandchildren.

She is also survived by her two sisters, Linda Dunbar Giardina and husband, Ralph of New Orleans; and Carolyne Dunbar DeJean and husband, Felix (Grem) of Opelousas; one brother, Chris Dunbar and his wife, Verna of Opelousas; and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Dr. R. L. "Cotton" Purser; her parents, R. P. Dunbar, Jr. and Cecelia Daigle Dunbar; and one brother, Robert Preston Dunbar III.

Ann's family is so thankful for the loving and exceptional care given to her at Prompt Succor Nursing Home in Opelousas and by her doctors especially Dr. Gary Blanchard, her nurses, and her dedicated friends. Her family also extends a special thanks to Sister Kay. Sister Kay's strong faith, gentle compassion, and calming spirit brought Ann so much peace.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 19, 2013, at St. Landry Catholic Church. Rite of Committal and interment will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park. Rev. Father James Brady will celebrate the Mass. The gifts will be presented by her granddaughters, Katie, Amanda, Alex Ann, Blaire, Allison, and Caroline.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Rob II, Ryan, Jared, Jacob, Christopher, Blake, and Adam. Honorary pallbearer will be Jack. Visiting hours will be observed in the St. Landry Catholic Church of Opelousas on Monday, August 19, 2013, from 8:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m.

A Rosary service will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Monday morning in the church.

She will be sadly missed by all whose lives she has touched.
