Alice BOYD Obituary
News Death Notice
BOYD, Alice Marie age 69, of Dayton, took her heavenly flight, Sunday, March 23, 2014 at the Riverside Health Center, after a brief illness. A graduate of Dunbar High School, Class of 1964. Former employee of Rike's Dept. Store, St. John Bus Company/Montgomery County Board of MRDD, Salem Mall food court and Ref Care, Inc. She was a member of Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, serving in the Music Ministry and formerly Usher Unit #2 until her health failed. Preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Ruby Allen; sisters, Virginia "Jill" Allen, Christine Annette (Thad) Carter, Mary Jean (Sugg) Clark and Lemmer Annie Roy (Thomas) Maddox. Her memory will be cherished by her loving children, James N. Jr. (Renee) Boyd and Alicia M. (Frederick) Evans; devoted and loving niece, Faith (Henry) Watson; sister, Ronaldlene Starks; brother, David "Tony" Allen; aunt, Mamie Smith; uncle, Frank Allen; son of love, Jessie Howard of Atlanta, GA; daughter of love, Reva Dudley; Goddaughter, Jasmine (Charles) Boddie; grandchildren, Antonio and Remy Boyd, Charles and Ja'Micheal Ramey; great grandchildren, Paris, Pierre and Pryce Pennington, Maxzaira Harvey, Malaysia Treadwell, Mihyahna and Za'Marria Ramey; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many loving friends. Funeral service will be held 11 am Thursday, March 27, 2014 at Mt. Calvary M.B. Church, 3300 W. Third St. Rev. Samuel N. Winston, Jr. officiating. Visitation from 9 to 11 am at the church. Family will receive friends from 10 to 11 am. Arrangements entrusted to the House of Wheat Funeral Home, Inc., 2107 N. Gettysburg Ave. A special thanks to the Hospice Crisis Care nursing staff. My fondest memory of Ms. Alice was taking her communion one Sunday and we did not realize we had expired communion elements! Ms. Alice tasted the grape juice and said....OOOOOwwweee y'all bringing the good stuff for real. I need to tell Pastor Sam to send you and Jamesetta all the time. She was full of life and love. God bless you all and RIP Ms. Alice.

To the Boyd Family, Rondalene and Tony,
I just want to say that my Deepest Sympathy goes out to you and your family during this difficult time. I can remember growing up at Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church and seeing Alice along with her sisters singing in the No.2 Choir and ushering on the floor other Sundays. Alice, had a beautiful smile that would light up the room, she will be truly missed. R.I.P. Alice

Alice is resting upon the breast of God with no sinful cares. May you use this fact to comfort you during this time of sorrow. May you also use all of the wonderful times that you had with Alice to further ease your sorrow.
Also, may your sorrow and grief be eased by the fact that Alice has greeted the dawn of a new day. Alice will surely be missed by all who knew her. May she rest in peace.

Having been a neighbor while growing up on Germantown St. I look upon Alice as being a light of goodness. I will always remember her bright smile and cheerfulness. She made the neighborhood a nice place to grow up. She was a keystone in the community. May love, peace and happiness be with the family in remembering Alice's impact upon the lives of those who she touched.
