Anniston and Decatur
Charles Lloyd Dinsmore Jr. of Anniston and Decatur, passed peaceably from this life on Saturday, May 10th at home in Lincoln, Ala. Charles was a well known business owner in Decatur where he ran Southern Sales Building Supply until relocating in 1979 to Anniston as owner of Anniston Lincoln Mercury Dodge. He retired in 2012 to take up his passion of genealogy and ancestry, tracing his family lineage all the way to Charlemagne. Born January 3, 1942, in Decatur where he grew up, Charles is predeceased by his parents, C. Lloyd Dinsmore Sr., and Annie Sue Dinsmore.
He is survived by his sons, Chuck Dinsmore (Mark Gruber), Wade Dinsmore (Brandy) and Atlee Dinsmore (Amanda); his grandchildren, Will, Jack, Marlee and Riley; his brother, Wilson Dinsmore (Joanne); nieces, Amanda Dinsmore Doo (David), Emma Dinsmore and nephew, Brian Johnson (Anna).
Services were held Wednesday May 14th at 2 p.m. at St. John's Episcopal Church with Roselawn Funeral Home directing. Interment followed in Decatur City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. John's youth group.

My love, thoughts and prayers are with all the family. Mr. D, as I always called him, will be greatly missed. He was by far the best employer a person could ever ask for and touched my life in more ways than one. He was not only an employer to me but a mentor and friend. Again I say, Mr. D, you will be greatly missed.

I am so saddened at the loss of my second cousin who was also my closest and dearest friend. Charles and I have spent the last 12 years in close, almost daily, collaboration doing our mutual genealogical research. We enjoyed the many family reunions at his home along with his hospitality. He had a very giving nature and he will be missed by a great many people. Due to health reasons, I could not make the services.

I met Charles in 1974, he's been a good friend ever since. He was soft spoken kind person. He will be missed by me and my family. I am very saddened by his passing. Lots of great memories from all those years.

I am so very sad to hear of he passing of Charles. It was through his and my father's years of genealogy research that we were all finally connected. He is gone too soon but will always be remembered. He had a kind and giving Spirit. Rest in Peace ,Charles.
