Clarence Gault Obituary

Clarence Wilson Gault Age 82, of Kennett Square, PA, died on Friday February 11, 2000 at Jenner's Pond, Penn Twp., PA. He was the husband of Emily Underwood Gault, with whom he had shared 57 years of marriage. Born in Acme, North Carolina and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana, he was a son of the late Horace Jefferson Gault and Lila Cochran Gault. Mr. Gault was a graduate of Shortridge High School, Indianapolis, IN and of Purdue University, where he received a B.S. in Chemical Engineering. He was a sales manager for Hercules Inc. for 48 years and retired in 1985. Mr. Gault was a member of the Church of the Advent, Kennett Square and former member of the Immanuel Episcopal Church, Wilmington, where he served on the vestry and as a lay reader. He was a member of the American Chemical Society, the Chem Vets, the Hercules Country Club and the Kennett Area Senior Center. Mr. Gault was an Eagle Scout. He was also an avid golfer and hiker. He had a love for birds and was a member of the DELMARVA Ornithological Society and has identified over 700 bird species within the US. Surviving in addition to his wife are: 3 sons, William Jefferson Gault of Morris Plains, NJ, Terrell Gault of Portland, OR & Wilson Gault Somers of Wilmington, DE; 1 daughter Lila Gault of New York, NY; 1 sister Evelyn DeVaney of Wichita, KS; and 6 grandchildren. Relatives and Friends are invited to attend his memorial service at 11 a.m. on Saturday March 11, 2000 at the Church of the Advent, N. Union & Fairthorne Sts., Kennett Square. Interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to the Church of the Advent, 401 N. Union St., Kennett Square, PA 19348 or Hospice of Delaware Valley, 431 S. Walnut St., Kennett Square, PA 19348. Arrangements are being handled by the KUZO & GOFUS FUNERAL HOME, LTD. of Kennett Square, PA.
