DAVID EVERTSEN Obituary

David Leslie Evertsen 1941 ~ 2009 My beloved husband, our beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather died on December 30, 2009 due to an un-successful fight with non-Hodgkin Lymphoma. He was born in Ogden, Utah to Joseph William and Eleanor MacFarlane Evertsen. He was one of five children; Nancy, Joseph and twins, Mary and Ricky. Dave met the love of his life, Cherry Turner while working at the Capitol Theatre. Dave joined the Army Reserves and was shipped to Fort Ord for basic training. He served six years in the Army Reserves. After a long distance courtship, Cherry and David were married April 8, 1961. From that union came three incredible children, Kristie Dawn Bridge (Todd), Darci Rae Kendrick (Robert) and Gavin Dave Evertsen, eight grandchildren and one great-grandson. Dave was a salesman for nearly 45 years, selling cookies and snack foods to convenient stores across the Wasatch front. We were blessed in his passing as he was surrounded by his children and wife, prayers and tears pouring over him, as he ascended into the arms of God. He is at peace now. Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, January 5th, with a social gathering at 11:00 a.m. and the services at 12:00 noon at Garner Funeral Home/Salt Lake Mausoleum, 1001 11th Ave., SLC. We want to thank the wonderful cancer team who were with Dave from the beginning; Dr. Elizabeth Prystas, Wasatch Hematology/ Oncology and her incredible Staff, Dr. Julie Asch and Dr. Finn Petersen, Blood and Bone Marrow Transplant and their wonderful staff. This death experience would not have been as beautiful and profound without the help of CNS Hospice, especially the nursing care of Barbara and Jennifer. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Dave's memory to the Huntsman Cancer Research Institute. Condolences can be sent to the family at www.garnerfuneral.com

Cherry, I'm so sorry about this loss in your life. I know that anyone who was in the cookie business must have been the very best kind of person. Clearly, he made a lot of people, like me, very happy. I'm so glad I got to know you and feel as if I knew David as well.

Cherry,
Mike and I are very saddened at the news of Dave`s passing. We were just reminissing all of the laughs, fun times and great memories that we share when Mike and Dave worked together at Mother`s Cookies. We will always cherish those memories. Dave was such a fun guy and we will miss him greatly. We feel very blessed to have been friends and shared so many fun times with you and Dave. You two were great examples to us as you had such a great love for each other and that was such a blessing and example to all of us that knew you two.

It is difficult to lose those we love, but we've found it's doubly hard to
let go of those that have been such a
positive, cheerful influence for us.
Dave is one of those people. Cherry, you can be comforted in the fact that you and Dave shared such a special bond. We're sure you have NO regrets and that this fact will bring you a great amount of peace in the coming days. Your relationship is one we all
want to emulate. Please know we are here for ANYTHING any of you may need.
To his children; losing a parent is one
of the most difficult experiences any of us can have. We are so sorry for the
pain this loss will cause and hope your
memories of Dave will carry you through. We also know you will feel him
near during quiet moments. God Bless!
