Alice Bell Ory

1939 - 2014

Alice Bell Ory, 75, devoted wife for 50 years as well as a proud mother and grandmother, died Thursday, Sept. 18, 2014. Funeral: 1:30 p.m. Monday in Mount Olivet Chapel. Interment: Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation: 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Mount Olivet. Born in Paris, Texas, on Sept. 2, 1939, to Stella Mae and Jesse Bain Anderson, Alice was the fourth of eight children. She graduated from Paschal High School in 1957. Her most memorable job was with Floyd West Insurance Co. Alice married Tommy Ory in July 1963. She was a fantastic cook and an avid gardener who loved tending to her plants and spending many happy hours with Tommy as they watched humming birds dart between flowers and the feeding station. She loved all cats and dogs the family raised, embraced living in the country, and was always well-read on the news of the day. She lost the love of her life, Tommy, on Dec. 9, 2013. Survivors: Daughters, Christy Lea Zarate and husband, Eric, and Karen Ann Turner and husband, Marcus; granddaughters, Madeline Minette and Nicole Marie Mayeux; and sisters, Norma Sappington, Jerrie Adams and Linda Meuir and her husband, Larry.
