Arne Carl Hansen passed away on August 20, 2013 at the age of 83. He was born in Viroqua, Wisconsin on February 3, 1930 to Norwegian immigrant parents Chris and Kirsten Hansen. Always one to follow his own path, he left the family farm as a young man, served in the Navy, and graduated from the Milwaukee School of Engineering in 1958. In 1959, he married Nancy Joan Pazen, and they began their lives together in Milwaukee. By 1972, they had three children and moved overseas to Taiwan, where Arne worked for three years as plant manager and absorbed a lifetime of Chinese culture. At the end of these three years, the family moved to El Paso, their fourth child was born, and Arne worked as a plant manager in Juarez, Mexico. In El Paso, Arne became a founding member of the Sol Hjem Chapter of the Norwegian Society of Texas and was very active at Mount Hope Lutheran Church. He enjoyed flea markets, clock collecting, traveling and imparting a love for Norwegian culture to his children and grandchildren.
