Christ Tzakais Obituary
Christ Tzakais, 67, of Fond du Lac, died Thursday, February 2, 2017 at his residence. He was born January 28, 1950 in Faribault, MN, the son of Jerry and Theodora (Kavalary) Tzakais. Christ attended Custer High School in Milwaukee and graduated from Horace Mann High School in North Fond du Lac in 1968. He earned his Political Science Degree in 1972 from UW Oshkosh. Christ worked 28 years for the Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Department as a Patrolman, Detective, Lieutenant, and Welfare Fraud Investigator, retiring in 2002. Christ was proud of his career, he walked in the door with his shoes shined and a smile on his face and walked out the same way. His retirement career was one of an artist, he took up pottery and was known as the "Old Hairy Potter". Christ enjoyed fishing, hunting, sporting clays, and loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Alice; one daughter, Christina (Joel) Ongert of West Bend; one son, Jerry (Danielle) Tzakais of Neenah; he was Papou to three grandchildren, Teagan and Kenna Ongert and Bowen Tzakais; one sister, Angeline (Dennis) Keys of Crystal Lake, IL. He is further survived by in laws, Kathy O'Brien, Michael O'Brien, Eileen (David) Gratton, Helen (Tony) Barthuly, and Sue (Bob) Perry; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; father and mother-in-law, John and Marion (Goebel) O'Brien; and an infant grandson, Jerosimo Christ Tzakais.
The visitation will be held from 10:00 AM - 12:45 PM on Saturday, February 11, 2017 at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. A prayer will conclude the visitation at 12:45 PM. Cremation has taken place.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Fond du Lac Area Foundation in Christ's name.

Alice, It's been a long time, but, I just happened to come across Christ's obit. I am so very sorry for your loss. Christ was a HUGE influence on my life, from joining the military to choosing law enforcement as a career. He was a very good friend to my Mom (Sandy Sommers-Foris) at one of the lowest times in her life and that friendship meant so much to her and lasted for many years as you know. I enjoyed having you and Christ at my wedding, drinking shots of Tequila. The good times were many and Christ always had a place in our family. I can not tell you how sorry I am for your loss. Christ was such a great man, it's a tremendous loss to all who knew and loved him.
