Reitz, Raymond G.

Raymond G. Reitz, 96, of Fond du Lac, formerly of Van Dyne, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 2, 2013, at St. Agnes Hospital, Fond du Lac.

He was born on June 18, 1917, in the Town of Omro, a son of Theodore and Lora Kossell Reitz. Ray attended Black Oak School in the Town of Nekimi.

On July 2, 1938, he married Flossie C. Berholtz at Grace Lutheran Church, Oshkosh. Flossie preceded him in death on February 28, 2010, after 71 years of marriage.

Ray was an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Nekimi, where he served as president of the congregation and he served one term on the church council. He was also a member of Senior Citizens of the Church.

He farmed in Nekimi, Winnebago County, was a field supervisor in Rosendale and Waupun, was in sales at Bluemke Hardware, Rosendale, and was an implement manager at Rosenheimers, Kewaskum. Ray then bought and operated a trucking business for a number of years. After he sold the business, he was elected town chairman for the Town of Friendship, and served for 14 years. He was a charter member of the Van Dyne Lions Club, a member of the Van Dyne Fire Department, and a member of the Wisconsin Town's Association.

He is survived by two children: Terry (Anna) Reitz of Van Dyne, and Joanne (Les) Jonas of Clintonville; four grandchildren: Tara (Brian) Wendt, Timothy (Tina) Reitz, Kathleen (Tim) O'Connor, and Mark (special friend, Bonnie) Jonas; seven great-grandchildren: Rhett, Cole, and Shaw Jonas, Emily and Stephanie O'Connor, and Parker and Peyton Wendt. He is further survived by a sister, Virginia Dehn of Oshkosh; a brother, Rexford (Donna) Reitz of Van Dyne; and a sister-in-law, Ruth Berholtz of Oshkosh.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Flossie; and two sisters: Loretta Wilke and Amber Plantz.

The funeral service will be held at 8:00 p.m. on Monday, October 7, 2013, at Mach Funeral Chapel & Crematory, 31 East Division Street, Fond du Lac, with Rev. Dean Desilet officiating. Burial will be in Ellenwood Cemetery, Town of Algoma.

The visitation will be on Monday at Mach Funeral Chapel & Crematory from 6:00 p.m. until the time of service.
