Dr. Huffman was my favorite professor. I took her for two undergraduate classes and was privileged to work twice in her Reading Clinic for graduate credit. She visited my fourth grade classroom at Waterloo Elementary School where I taught for 32 years. Such an uplifting and genuine person, always encouraging the best. I still remember her beginning our class with a Snoopy cartoon reading. One student was usually late to class because of work. One evening he opened the classroom door very slowly to sneak in without being noticed until Dr. Huffman said, "Peek-A-Boo." Such down to earth treatment taught me to look for humor in the classroom. I am indeed fortunate to have known Dr. Huffman. The family has my deepest sympathy and appreciation.

My thoughts and prayers are with your family. I met Dr. Huffman when I was an education student at IPFW in 1986. She was a true inspiration to so many students. I remember how her eyes sparkled when she smiled and spoke about the teaching profession. I admired her for her passion for children and teaching. It was an honor to know her.

My deepest sympathy to the family of Maxine. I taught with her for many years at IPFW, what class! Her contributions to our School of Education were significant and many. I have many fond memories of her. May she rest in peace.
